About the band

History

The original concept of Indianapolis was born in 2003 when two mates, Andy Robertson and Steven Burns shared a flat together. Steve was the lead guitarist in local cover band Sunstorm and Andy, unknown to Steve had a love for writing poetry. The two discovered a shared love of music and with Steve´s guitar and Andy´s words the idea of forming a songwriting partnership came about.

Over the years, whilst no longer sharing a flat, the two remained good friends and continued writing songs. Over this time Steve´s ability to write lyrics improved as did Andy´s skills on the guitar. This led to more productive song writing which is an area in which the duo continue to improve and are starting to build a considerable collection of songs. However it wasn´t until mutual acquaintance, Steven Ness, also a keen guitarist, insisted the 3 should go into the studio for a couple of sessions. This was swiftly followed by the addition of former IDIO bass player, Calum McKenzie and in February 2006 the line up was complete with the addition of Rickie Crombie on the drums.

The band made their debut in the Dexter´s battle of the bands competition and were delighted to progress to the next round with some very positive feedback. Since then the band has continued to improve and with recruitment of the outstanding Paul Petrie to replace Rickie on the drums they continue to mature as a band.

Whilst Indianapolis can rock with the best of the local bands one thing they pride themselves on is their ability to produce variety within their songs. With songs like "Tit´s Hair and Makeup" to get the crowd going they also have "Promises" and "Panic Attack" to tug at your emotions. It is the variety and depth of the songs which sets this band apart from most of the local bands and something the band pride themselves on.

With 2006 very much an introduction for the band into the music scene they are looking forward to 2007 where they hope to really push on and establish themselves in the thriving local music scene and beyond.

The band look forward to receiving continued support from those who have shown their appreciation so far and hopefully pick up a few more admirers on the way…
